Salon Talk “A Man with Money”

So, recently I went to the hair salon to get my hair done. While my styling was being wrapped up I caught the gage of a conversation of a young 18 or 19 year old college student, her mother and her hair stylist. We’ll call her Amber, she was so excited raving about this new boyfriend she met over the summer and how well he treats her. Being with him has shown her she should be treated in comparison to how she had been treated with a previous boyfriend. Words of “wisdom” and advice to the young girl was, whatever you do marry a man with some money.

Hmm…I would beg to differ. Am I saying having money is a bad thing, of course not? However there is something more important to consider, that thing is the CHARACTER OF a MAN. Money is neutral. It is neither bad nor good but the more you have of it magnifies the character of the person. The problem with this sort of thinking is, if you hook up with someone because of material things they have or things they are currently doing…what is going to happen once it’s gone, once the season changes. What you want is a man of character. What you want is the blessing of the Lord on your life. The anointing can produce and protect you.

Do not put your hope in money, do not put your trust in something that is temporal and will fly away like a bird with wings.

Pharaoh had money, authority, an army, chariots, all the material things you can think of. Moses has nothing but a rod, but the presence of God was with Moses. Moses was able to deliver a nation from Egyptian bondage with the GOD. Moses didn’t have “money”. Money cannot save you in the day of trouble. (Exodus 13). However, 1 Timothy 6:17 says “Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.”

Life Lesson: You are nothing without God, but with God you have everything because he is all and all. Trust God and not money. In money there is no salvation. Money comes and goes but God has already made a promise to never leave you or forsake you. Your life is not going to be better when you get some more money, enjoy it now.

“He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity.”Ecclesiastes 5:10 ASB

Worship of the Heart

“ Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” – Ephesians 5:18-20 NIV

I’m compelled to share on worship. Worship is somewhat misunderstood as the first 15 minutes of a church service or song that we sing, but worship goes much deeper than that. Worship is a spiritual act of devotion. Worship is a lifestyle. Worship is sacrifice. Worship is true intimacy with God that spills over into every area of your life.

“For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”John 4:24

True worship begins with a deep respect or reverence for God, a frame of heart, an attitude.

I remember and experience from my first year as a born again Christian. We would worship to the song “To Worship You I live by Israel and New Breed” and I would encounter the presence of God in away like no other. When worshiping in song I think the best worship is when we worship in spirit in truth, when you really mean every word of the song with all of your heart, all of your being…you are ministering unto the Lord. Specifically the line in the song that “To glorify your name, to glorify your name, I live to glorify “I was on the worship team and the manifest presence of God would completely wreck me, because I really meant it. I would begin shake under the presence of God and go to my knees…You know, during worship the Lord reveals secrets to his children, his thoughts are revealed. At this point in time I didn’t really know my purpose, but the one thing that I did know is that I had a great to honor and glorify God with my life. This is the beauty of repentance and a surrendered heart. God can have is way in you and through you.

Benefits of Worship:

  1. As you worship you show devotion to God.
  2. You can show devotion to God in everything in everyday
  3. You are holy ground, you are the church you belong to God. You are not your own.
  4. You express your love and delight for God.
  5. You are thankful for what Jesus did, and who HE is.
  6. You access Heaven and God manifest his presence.
  7. Healing Takes place when you worship.
  8. Enemies are defeated because of your worship.

Neat Facts on Worship:

  • Worshipers are warriors
  • Worshipers take down giants
  • Word “worship” found in 95 verse(s), 40 chapter(s) and 26 book(s).
  • Hebrew word for worship is Shachah which “to depress, i.e. prostrate (in homage to royalty or God): bow (self) down, crouch, fall down (flat), humbly beseech, do (make) obeisance, do reverence, make to stoop, worship.”

Questions to ponder in your heart: Are you worshiping God Almighty in your life? Or are you worshiping some other God or Idol (people, things, jobs, etc.)?

Walking With God – Our Partnership with Him

partnering with God

“So Jesus explained himself at length. “I’m telling you this straight. The Son can’t independently do a thing, only what he sees the Father doing. What the Father does, the Son does. The Father loves the Son and includes him in everything he is doing.”

– John 5:19 -20 MSG

Jesus is talking to the Jewish leaders of this time period. They are trying to find fault with he just performed healing and they antagonizing him asking why he did this on the Sabbath.

  • Your enemies will try to come against you and make you think the thing God is telling you to do is wrong, b/c it may be uncommon and something they haven’t seen before. But Jesus also did the never seen and he said greater works than this will you do.

In John 5:19- 20 Jesus is letting us know that  he is not doing any of these works on his own. Everything he did was totally dependent on his father in Heaven. God did something in Heaven and Jesus simply followed.

Principle #1 -The real thing is in Heaven.  The earth is a shadow of Heaven. When you first see father do something. It has already been done in heaven, so if you then follow after him and do/say it here on earth heaven and earth connect or intersect.

Principle #2 – Carrier of the Kingdom of  Heaven. Let your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Don’t go ahead of God or lag behind him.

Principle #3 – Be Quick to Obey – Do what you see him doing, be quick to obey him. That quick obedience allows you to be included in the move of God in that very moment. God loves Jesus and includes him in everything he is doing and wants him to be to take part in what he is doing on earth.

Application /Example:  If God tells you go lay hands on a person for healing. They are already delivered and free in Heaven, you are then bringing Heaven on earth. When you obey Heaven and earth are intersecting; and there is where freedom and breakthrough lye. In the obedience of doing the thing in dependence on God the Father.

What will happen if I don’t wait to hear or see what God is doing?

  1. Miss the Will of God – when we are not in tune with God is doing in our lives we can miss his will, which is his best.
  2. Open to deceptions of the enemy – – we can end up going astray from his plan or being deceived by the enemy. When God leads me there is safety. When my emotions lead me, there is not safety because emotions are fickle.
