Romans 12:1 – Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God–this is your true and proper worship.
It is worship when we honor God with our bodies. We can make excuses, we can make provisions for our flesh, or be can make our flesh obey God’s word. You are in control. As believers we have been give the spirit of SELF-CONTROL. It is a fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23)
I have a question for you. Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?? (Acts 19:2)
I highly recommend being filled with the Holy Spirit. It will make a world of difference. You can be in church and have prayed the sinners prayer at some point in time, but if you aren’t filled with the Holy Spirit. When you are filled with the Holy Spirit you have thee spirit of God on the inside of you. He bring a supernatural ability (grace) that you would not have in your own strength, in this case a divine self-control. Without the infilling of the Holy Spirit you may not have much interest in the things of the spiritual things. Being filled with the Holy Spirit gives you POWER from Heaven to overcome, to walk boldly in God’s word, and to flee lust. This infilling of the Holy Spirit comes with the evidence of speaking in tongues (Read Acts 19).
Acts 19:6 – When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. 7 There were about twelve men in all.
Prayer to receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit:
Dear Heavenly Father,
I pray that you will fill me with the fullness of your Holy Spirit. Baptize me with the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues, according Acts 19:6. Empower me to live a life that is pleasing to you. Lead me and guide me on a daily basis, I want to live life lead by the Spirit of the Living God. Convict me of the sin in my life, cleanse me from unrighteousness’. In Jesus name, Amen.
1 )Lust Leads You Away
2 Timothy 3:1-9 – But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; 9 but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.
You lust for the world and pleasure will lead you away from God. Don’t fool yourself or allow outside influences to make you think that you are being deprived of something. God’s word is right he gives us his instructions, because of what he already knows. He has seen the end from the beginning.
Living in the flesh only leads to death and destruction. The trick of the enemy is to get you mad with God feeling as though he has forsaken you and withholding something good from you. Once you’ve believed the lie, it gets down in your heart like a weed in a garden and begins to eat at the word that’s been sown and your heart gets hard. When your heart is hard you can’t receive from God and you’re no longer sensitive to his touch. Now the enemy has you desensitized and he can sting you and you don’t even feel it.
You think you’re fine. Everyone is doing it (in the world or even you friends from church).
Flee sin and tempting situations. In 1 Chronicles 4, Jabez asked God to “Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request”. Sometimes is best for use to avoid evil all together. Don’t put yourself in a situation that you know is highly likely to result in sin and eventually pain.
2) Change of Heart and Will
Sometimes it’s our will that is the problem.
When we repent we turn away from sin.
We change our mind out what we thought was okay to line up with Gods word.
We come out of agreement with self-will /self-seeking/ our own understanding and we come into agreement with the will of God. You can know the right thing to do and you simply don’t want to do it. It’s not important enough to you. You think God is playing, you’ve encountered authority that didn’t do what they say or mean what they say early in life so you think its game. You don’t believe you will really have consequences for sin and lust. You do not own your body or your life, Jesus paid of the price for you. You trample him under you feet all over again when you DECIDE to ignore what he did for you.
Proverbs 14:12 – There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
The foundation of all of this is Love. Do you really love God? The more in love you become with God the more you will begin to hate the things he hates and desire to be like him. When we love God and we get a revelation of God he’s done for us and how much we actually need him b/c we cannot make it on our own, we give love and grace to others. Not being able to walk in love is a sign of spiritual immaturity. John 14:15, ““If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”
1 Corinthians 13:11 NIV – When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.
In others, when you mature and grow up its like going from child to man, You put aside childish excuses about why you cannot do what you know you need to be doing. Mature person understands what is at stake; what can be lost or damaged in the process. Let love be the difference maker for you. His grace is sufficient.
When you engage in sexual activity outside of marriage you open yourself up to spiritually damaging situation. Soul ties are formed and it provides an access key for satan in your life. Even if both people are believers. We are under the covering of Jesus Christ. Satan has no legal right to be in lives unless we invite him in. Sleepless nights, worry, depression, suicidal thought, unwanted pregnancies, baby daddy/mama drama are all consequences of sexual sin. It may feel good and bring pleasure temporarily but this is only a ploy to get you comfortable then satan has his way. Keep these things in mind the next time you’re presented with temptation. The devil makes his presentations.
2 Timothy 3:5 NIV – Having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
