Principle of Best

Excerpt from my latest book “God’s Best in Love and Life.

When I hear the word best I think of being number one in a competition or having quality that’s better than the rest. The question is what really makes something the best? Who determines if something is better than another option? In school the valedictorian in the one person that had the best grades, the highest grade point average in their class.

So based on the standards of the school the teachers determine what is “best”. In the dictionary “best” is described as most excellent, effective or desirable type. Merriam-Webster’s dictionary defines “best” as better than all the others in quality or value. The superlative of “best” most productive of good: offering or producing the greatest advantage, utility or satisfaction.

When I call someone my best friend it’s usually someone I like to spend time with the most and we connect well. Our friendship isn’t something forced. We can go months without talking and remain connected. We can be in the same room and communicate with facial expressions because we know each other so well.

Shaping Your World Through Prayer:

I believe we can shape our world through prayer. There is such a powerful force in spoken word. Now I’m not saying if you say I have $10 Million dollars under my mattress 10 times that it will appear. However, when you stand on the word of God, your heart is pure and you seek for his will to be done in your life you can see transformation. Your own belief in God’s promises, faith and putting your faith in action through prayer will cause change. It is guaranteed. Isaiah 55:11 , says “God’s word will not return unto him void”.

Posture yourself in faith and humility. In the book Prayer Driven Life by  Robert Ho, Robert proclaims “God wants you to live a supernatural life. One of the main common denominators of great men and women of God is that they were all great prayer warriors. You cannot change the world on your own strength. Unless you humble yourself in prayer, and rely on God’s power, you can only do what’s humanly possible. At the end of your life you will wonder, “That was it?” Without God, your life will be only earthly, natural and predictable; it won’t be supernatural. You reap what you sow. As you begin, I want to invite you to this incredible supernatural life –fashioned by God and through your prayer.”

We want the best ,but oftentimes we don’t want to pay the best price. I sometimes joke about being cheap, I’m really not cheap but I’m a bargain shopper. Out of wisdom I like to get the very best I can for the least possible price unless it’s something I really want and value.

For example, if you know anything about hair weaves there are different types. There are synthetics, human hair remy, wigs, lace closures , silk based closures.  Prices can range from $10 to $200. For example, closures are made in the lace closure and silk based closure. A lace closure may cost $40.  A silk-based closure looks like an actual scalp, they are made to be more durable and cost $100 -$150 alone. Silk based closures are the most expensive. Oftentimes we want the best results for the bargain bin price.  Any weave wearer knows if you want the look to last and look good while it’s in its best to go ahead and pay the price, unless you plan on only a short term hairstyle.

Just like in relationships or even a career if you don’t pay the price it won’t last.

Fight Against Distractions

Fight Against Distractions

“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” – Luke 10:19 NIV

Fight against the attacks. We have a stubborn unseen enemy. Be ready for war. Put on the full armor of God, the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness and the shield of faith in order to derail every attack of Satan and his demons. For those who abide in Christ you have an adversary that hates you. You are part of a royal kingdom that he’s been driver banished from and he is deadly jealous of you. The bible says he knows his time is short so he is busy looking for someone to destroy. Be smarter than you enemy. Know that your fight is not against the person you see causing you trouble, but there is an unseen evil force behind it.

Rejoice my friend because you already have the victory. Christ has already overcome the works, even our faith.

In Luke 4 there is a demon possessed man in the synagogue where Jesus was preaching. The demon possessed man kept crying out “go away, what do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us?…” Jesus exercised his heavenly authority over impure spirits and sternly commanded them to “Be quiet…Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him”(Luke 4:35 NIV).

Today if you encounter difficult people, difficult situations, negative doctor’s reports, kids that won’t listen etc. know that you already are an overcomer in Christ Jesus. Exercise your authority as a believer and kick the devil out of your territory. Plead the blood of Jesus over your life and remind the devil that you have authority to trample on snakes, scorpions, and all the power of darkness so he cannot touch you. You belong to Jesus and it is illegal for him to your domain. Send the devil packing and don’t invite him back in.

Today’s Prayer: Lord, I thank you for the authority I have as one who abides in Christ Jesus. Thank you that the power of God flows through me. I thank you that I have the power to trample on serpents, scorpions and all the power of darkness and nothing will harm me. In Jesus name, Amen.

Manasseh Study “There Are Manasseh’s in Your Future”

What is a Manasseh?

There are Manasseh’s in your future. I believe for every disappointment we’ve experienced in life God has Manasseh’s and Ephraim’s planned to make up for it. God gives beauty for ashes. When I originally got the Revelation of Manasseh, triggered by a decal I created to help me to get through the day with a sweet reminder that my current situation would not always remain. I simple piece of paper with the Word Manasseh Genesis 41:51, meant so much to me.

Let’s take a look at a few translations of Genesis 41:51

Genesis 41:51  NIV – Joseph named his firstborn Manasseh and said, “It is because God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father’s household.”

Genesis 41:51 (English Standard Version) – Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh. “For,” he said, “God has made me forget all my hardship and all my father’s house

Genesis 41:51 KJV –  And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father’s house.

Genesis 41:51 AMP –   Joseph named the firstborn Manasseh (causing to forget), for he said, “God has made me forget all my trouble and hardship and all [the sorrow of the loss of] my father’s household.”

Manasseh is the name of Joseph’s first born son.

Season of Testing and Trail that led to Joseph’s Manasseh:

(Step 1 Jealousy) His Brothers got jealous of him and turned on him.

(Step 2 Sold him out) Their jealousy and bitterness led to them selling him out. They also violate their own conscious, dignity, character. They did this to family, someone they are supposed to love.  Maybe you’ve felt betrayed by family. Stabbed in the back. Lied on and the heat of the resentment is too much.

(Step 3 He still prospers/He’s still standing…he’s actually running) Potiphar puts him charge.

(Step 4 He refuses to sell out and sleep with his master’s wife. He is then wrongly accused and put in jail) He had the opportunity to do the wrong thing when no one else is looking and he still chose righteousness.  Good fruit came from his tree. People may accuse you, talk about you and he kept doing the right thing

Your Enemies Work For You: THEY ARE DOING YOU A FAVOR. God uses your enemy’s wrong doings to position you for where he is taking you.

3 Ways Your Enemies Work for You

  1. Rub off the rough edges. Once you’ve encountered them and endured (pass the test) elements that are not like God are removed from your character.
  2. They are become a footstool that lift you up and propels you forward.
  3. You get to use your faith which consequently causes your faith to grow. The more we use our faith the stronger it gets.

(Step 5 Divine connection is made in jail) God will bring promotion and connections from unlikely places. His thoughts are not your thoughts. He does things in a way that may seem foolish to the natural man and the natural mind.  He may not do what you’ve been believing for in the way you think. Jesus rebuked Peter in Mark 8:33 told him “ “You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”

(Step 6 They still forget him until 2 years later)

Joseph could not have thought this up, planned it, or have made it happen on his own. But he kept on walking.  This is a faith walk. We had to fight against our flesh and keep on walking towards what may be UNSEEN right now.

(Step 7 Promotion Comes) – SUDDENLY God exalts Joseph at the age of 30. He is placed in the position of second and command to Pharaoh. Then his dream comes true. The prophetic dream God gave the young Joseph at the ripe age of seventeen had finally come to pass.

Genesis 41:41 -43 NIV:

So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt.” Then Pharaoh took his signet ring from his finger and put it on Joseph’s finger. He dressed him in robes of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck. He had him ride in a chariot as his second-in-command, and people shouted before him,“Make way!” Thus he put him in charge of the whole land of Egypt.

This is a divine hookup. Without special education, connections etc. God made HIS WILL happen.

Symbols:

Manasseh is a symbol of promise. God is a God of promise.

Joseph Symbol or Type of Jesus.  After Christ’s resurrection he was “he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God” (Mark 16:19NIV). Joseph was placed as Pharaoh’s right hand man, second in command. Even if we suffer, it’s not in vain. Christ suffered, so to suffer with him is honor.

Manasseh is a symbol of God’s glory. God’s glory can be seen in our lives. He wants to get glory out of our story.

Manasseh Symbol of Restoration.  What God has in store for you will be better than what you lost (Joel 2:25). It will be better than what you expect (Ephesians 3:20).

Purity is Possible

Purity

Romans 12:1 – Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God–this is your true and proper worship.

It is worship when we honor God with our bodies. We can make excuses, we can make provisions for our flesh, or be can make our flesh obey God’s word. You are in control. As believers we have been give the spirit of SELF-CONTROL. It is a fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23)

I have a question for you.  Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?? (Acts 19:2)

I highly recommend being filled with the Holy Spirit. It will make a world of difference. You can be in church and have prayed the sinners prayer at some point in time, but if you aren’t filled with the Holy Spirit.  When you are filled with the Holy Spirit you have thee spirit of God on the inside of you. He bring a supernatural ability (grace) that you would not have in your own strength, in this case a divine self-control. Without the infilling of the Holy Spirit you may not have much interest in the things of the spiritual things. Being filled with the Holy Spirit gives you POWER from Heaven to overcome, to walk boldly in God’s word, and to flee lust.  This infilling of the Holy Spirit comes with the evidence of speaking in tongues (Read Acts 19).

Acts 19:6 – When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. There were about twelve men in all.

Prayer to receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit:

Dear Heavenly Father,

I pray that you will fill me with the fullness of your Holy Spirit. Baptize me with the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues, according Acts 19:6.  Empower me to live a life that is pleasing to you. Lead me and guide me on a daily basis, I want to live life lead by the Spirit of the Living God. Convict me of the sin in my life, cleanse me from unrighteousness’.  In Jesus name, Amen.

1 )Lust Leads You Away

2 Timothy 3:1-9 – But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; 9 but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.

You lust for the world and pleasure will lead you away from God. Don’t fool yourself or allow outside influences to make you think that you are being deprived of something. God’s word is right he gives us his instructions, because of what he already knows. He has seen the end from the beginning.

Living in the flesh only leads to death and destruction. The trick of the enemy is to get you mad with God feeling as though he has forsaken you and withholding something good from you.  Once you’ve believed the lie, it gets down in your heart like a weed in a garden and begins to eat at the word that’s been sown and your heart gets hard.  When your heart is hard you can’t receive from God and you’re no longer sensitive to his touch. Now the enemy has you desensitized and he can sting you and you don’t even feel it.

You think you’re fine. Everyone is doing it (in the world or even you friends from church).

Flee sin and tempting situations. In 1 Chronicles 4, Jabez asked God to “Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request”. Sometimes is best for use to avoid evil all together. Don’t put yourself in a situation that you know is highly likely to result in sin and eventually pain.

2) Change of Heart and Will

Sometimes it’s our will that is the problem.

When we repent we turn away from sin.

We change our mind out what we thought was okay to line up with Gods word.

We come out of agreement with self-will /self-seeking/ our own understanding and we come into agreement with the will of God. You can know the right thing to do and you simply don’t want to do it. It’s not important enough to you. You think God is playing, you’ve encountered authority that didn’t do what they say or mean what they say early in life so you think its game. You don’t believe you will really have consequences for sin and lust. You do not own your body or your life, Jesus paid of the price for you. You trample him under you feet all over again when you DECIDE to ignore what he did for you.

Proverbs 14:12 – There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

3) Love

The foundation of all of this is Love. Do you really love God? The more in love you become with God the more you will begin to hate the things he hates and desire to be like him. When we love God and we get a revelation of God he’s done for us and how much we actually need him b/c we cannot make it on our own, we give love and grace to others.  Not being able to walk in love is a sign of spiritual immaturity. John 14:15, ““If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”

1 Corinthians 13:11 NIV – When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.

In others, when you mature and grow up its like going from child to man, You put aside childish excuses about why you cannot do what you know you need to be doing. Mature person understands what is at stake; what can be lost or damaged in the process. Let love be the difference maker for you. His grace is sufficient.

When you engage in sexual activity outside of marriage you open yourself up to spiritually damaging situation. Soul ties are formed and it provides an access key for satan in your life. Even if both people are believers. We are under the covering of Jesus Christ. Satan has no legal right to be in lives unless we invite him in. Sleepless nights, worry, depression, suicidal thought, unwanted pregnancies, baby daddy/mama drama are all consequences of sexual sin. It may feel good and bring pleasure temporarily but this is only a ploy to get you comfortable then satan has his way. Keep these things in mind the next time you’re presented with temptation. The devil makes his presentations.

2 Timothy 3:5 NIV – Having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

3 Myth Busters on Christian Dating & Relationships

1) Real Christians Don’t Date

There’s this idea that dating is something that real Christians wouldn’t be involved in. From the information that’s out there I’ve gotten the depiction that you shouldn’t date unless you think they could be husband material. I think this is a dangerous outlook. A date is simply and interview. You go out with someone you talk and get to know that person over a mean or a fun activity. If the two of you decide to go on a second date the interview continues. Dates can be a fun way to socialize with another person without pressure. Nowhere in the bible does it say, don’t go out with “Johnny” unless the two of you are planning to get married. Yes, it takes TWO to tango, so you can want marriage or think “Johnny” is a great candidate for a spouse but if you two haven’t discussed and agreed he is not “your husband”. Stop telling your friends you just “met your husband”. Let a man lead and express clear and direct interest before you get your heart entangled. Proverbs 19:2, “Even zeal without knowledge is not good”.

2) If you desire a spouse you’re not focused on God

You just don’t spend enough time with God. This one drives me crazy everything I hear it or see it somewhere. There’s also a rumor that’s going around that if you’re not content with being single it’s because you don’t spend enough time with God and you’re not focus on him. This one is part of the very reason I’ve always shied away from even mentioning the topic in my books or blog. When I first heard some of this thing they sounded good at the beginning of my born again virgin, committing to purity (not having sex again until I’m married, to honor God with my body) journey. Then 2 years…3 years… 4 years… 5 years… in these ideas just got old. It made me feel like something was wrong with me. I shouldn’t feel the way I feel because I’m young fly and sanctified.

Jesus knows your hearts desires and he wants to fulfill them his way, in his divine timing. Psalm 145:16 NIV, “You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.” We just want to make sure that are motives are pure and that we don’t seek God for his hand, but his heart. Therefore, not being okay of not seeing a change in this area of your life if doesn’t mean you are not godly or an idol worshiper. I call it being real. If the woman with the issue of blood ignored her hemorrhaging she probably would have died.

Desire is Okay

You are not alone. You are in good company. In 1 Samuel 1 there was a woman named Hannah who also experienced the same disappointment. Hannah was one

of two wives of a man named Ramathaim. Hannah was a woman of God who was faithful and righteous.  Although Hannah was righteous had no children, the other wife had baby after baby year after year.

In 1 Samuel 1 verse 5 -8 “But to Hannah he gave a double portion because he loved her, and the LORD had closed her womb. Because the LORD had closed

Hannah’s womb, her rival kept provoking her in order to irritate her. This went on year after year. Whenever Hannah went up to the house of the LORD, her rival

provoked her till she wept and would not eat. Hannah poured out her care to the Lord. God remembered Hannah’s cry, and he will remember yours.

3) When you meet “the one” you’ll just know right away

Zeal without knowledge can be dangerous. We want to be careful not to jump to conclusions and always bring things to God in prayer instead of making assumptions. You may hear stories of couples who said they knew the “the one” right away. Just because that is their story doesn’t mean it will be yours. Anytime we don’t have proper knowledge about something we open up ourselves to deception of the enemy. Everything that God creates, satan tries to copy as a counterfeit.

I remember meeting a guy a few years ago. We met a restaurant while grabbing lunch and he insisted on paying for my food while we were in line then we exchanged phone numbers. After getting acquainted on the phone for a few months we finally went on a first date. We went to see a movie then walked and talked for a while. There just seemed to be “something” about him that I really liked. As the day dwindled down and it was time to say goodbye we stood in front of each other holding hands and looking into each other’s eyes with childlike smiles and grins on our faces. I didn’t want the date to end and he didn’t either. He said, “I could just stand here all day with you”. As more time went on we had this crazy attraction to each other, its’ called infatuation. He wanted to go to Las Vegas and get married and spend the rest of our lives together. I “felt” like he was certainly “the one”. It had been so long since I met someone who I could sit and talk to on the phone forever. I like everything about him, he always made me smile.

Then I began to have these crazy dreams about him.  They would always start out good then have a negative twist. Like this one dream, he sent me a huge gift box

full of presents I was so excited when I got them, but when I opened them they had labels on them that said “warning could cause cancer”. Dreams like this one were warnings from God that he wasn’t everything he was presenting himself to be.

I knew those feelings from the beginning had to mean he was the one. Do you see how unwise it can be to make assumptions? Even if he expresses interest in you and the desire for marriage you have to prayerfully discern if the relationship is the will of God for you.
